Day 7, Saturday: Austin

Day 7, Saturday: Austin
No Driving!

As I write this I'm on Friday, Day 17 - we woke up at the Grand Canyon and will be going to sleep at an RV Park in Bakersfield, CA. Good times.

Also this photo is from the day before - just for fun. It's how we roll.

Saturday we woke up bright and early (8am, haha not so early). Then I joined Nancy and Cris for a morning of errands - Paul stayed at home to try and wake up. While we waited for GPS to load I enjoyed the view out of the car. Gorgeous.

Then we headed to a local bakery - something Nancy and Cris do weekly - and grabbed sweets and coffees for the road. It was lovely.

Then we headed to Academy - a sports store. Below is a photo of the little girls dancing outfits - so cute. We didn't have such cute things when I was a dancer as a kid. But Academy had great things at every level - I bought a few cute sports bra's that double as awesome swim tops. 12 dollars and they are amazing.

Academy is my new favorite store. It also offered us a tent for our return trip, a cot for me for camping, fishing gear and T shirts for Paul and swim wear for me.

Then we headed home to grab Paul and drop Cris off and head to Whole Foods Market to experience this flagship store.

And wow.

Really.

Not only where the sweets amazing, and the store, but look at the broccoli cheese cake above in the bottom left corner - soooo tasty.

After a day running shopping errands I was getting sleepy - so we headed home. I had a beer and edited photos, and then caught up on some project runway while Paul and Nancy went out to buy more groceries.

The rest was appreciated.

Then it was time to get ready for the big dinner party Nancy was throwing for a few friends. We decorated the table - Nancy made it gorgeous!

We were making Mediterranean  Melts from a Martha Stewart Cookbook. So good.

We sliced tomatoes and roughly chopped olives.

Chopping Parsley and drinking Wine.

We peeled, cut and then soaked baby artichoke hearts in lemon.

Then we sauteed them with onions and olive oil.

After carving out some bread we layered the foods and baked it with cheese.
Amazing.

It was a perfect dinner party.

Also it turns out Cris is a great pie baker.
Wow.
This was an amazing lemon meringue.

Then we all gathered in the living room to watch the final night of the Olympics.
Excellent.
